Sealrust VCI®: Manufacturing Process of Modi Poly
Modi Poly is a reputed Indian manufacturer of Anti-Rust Packing Solutions. We have sophisticated and automated machinery and in-house R&D and testing facilities.
Sealrust VCI® Poly Products, are manufactured by Modi Poly by using sophisticated “extrusion process”, where raw Low Density Polyethylene, popularly known as LDPE granules, is converted into tubing and sheets.
During the manufacturing process, required doses of several chemical ingredients, are blended, and doses of several chemical ingredients, are blended, various additives and “VCI master batches” are added for achieving the desired levels of VCI and anti-corrosive properties.
Sealrust VCI®: Volatile Corrosion Inhibitor
Sealrust VCI® Poly Products, are based on the chemistry of Vapor Phase Inhibitor (VPI) and Volatile Corrosion Inhibitor (VCI).
Inhibitors are chemical compounds which inhibit and reduce the contact of the metal surface with the corrosive environment. In other words, VCI provides an invisible barrier film on the metal object, which stops the corrosive reaction.
While using Sealrust VCI® packing material for corrosion and rust prevention, there is no need of application of oil or grease or any other similar material, on metal parts and auto components.
For protection of metal items and auto components for storage, seaworthy packaging and for ocean transport, various options are available. Selection of Proper Corrosion Inhibitor for optimum protection of metal and corrosion control depends on a number of factors.
Plastic products based on Volatile Corrosion Inhibitors (VCI) and Vapor Phase Inhibitors, such as Sealrust VCI®, are preferred for flexible packaging and optimum protection of multi-metal products against corrosion and rust.

“Contact Corrosion Inhibitor” (CCI) vs “Volatile Corrosion Inhibitor” (VCI)
Conventionally contact corrosion inhibitors like oil, grease etc., are being used for protection of metal items. A contact corrosion inhibitor protects only that surface and the area of the total system which come into direct contact with the corrosive preventive material.
Such surface and area of the metal system which do not have direct contact with contact corrosion inhibitors, will tend to corrode and get rusted.
In case of Sealrust VCI® Poly Products, chemical compounds and its formulation covers the entire surface of the system uniformly and protects the metal from corrosion and rust.
Sealrust VCI®: Primary Packaging for Metal and Auto Parts
Sealrust VCI® Packaging Solutions, are suitable for all types ferrous and non-ferrous metals like carbon steel, stainless steel, copper, brass, aluminium, silver, silicon steel and galvanized steel and multi-metal product.
For optimum and long-term protection of metal parts and auto components, Sealrust VCI® Plastic Packing Material, should be used during manufacturing process of metal parts and auto components, as primary packaging material.
Sealrust VCI® should not be combined with any other brand or make of “VCI packing material”. On using Sealrust VCI®, there is no need to apply oil or grease on metal objects.
Salt Spray Testing of Sealrust VCI®: ASTM B-117
Sealrust VCI® Poly Bags of thickness 500 gauge, were tested by Department of Corrosion Science & Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Mumbai as per ASTM B-117 in salt spray chamber.
Steel samples were observed after 1000 hours. No trace of corrosion product or pitting or corrosion at the edges was seen.
As per the Test Report, Sealrust VCI® Poly Bags were effective in controlling the corrosion of steel in “1000 hours salt spray test”.
