Corrosion is basically electromechanical process. Corrosion (or Rust) is the term normally used to describe degradation of metal surface which may be in form of parts, spares, components etc made out of ferrous or non ferrous metal.

Corrosion and Rust take place due to various reasons. Moisture is prime cause of Corrosion of Metal Products. Formation of condensation due to change of temperature combined with high level of humidity is the main cause of corrosion and rust.

Presence of salts, acids, sulphates are also sources of corrosion. Presence of finger marks on metal surfaces also promote corrosion.

Various options for Corrosion Protection

Besides Coating and electroplating, there are mainly three options of corrosion protection use in the industry - Oiling & Greasing, Use of VCI Paper and use of VCI Poly Packaging Material. Oiling or Greasing Using VCI paper and VCI Poly material. Degreasing and removing oil from the metal components is expensive and time consuming.

In case of VCI Paper, packed items require additional or secondary packing material like Plastic or jute. In terms of Cost/Benefits effectiveness, VCI Poly packaging material is more economical and much more effective. Besides being transparent, VCI Plastic packing material is available in custom sizes and also having superior moisture barrier properties compared to VCI paper.
